Invisalign, just one of our dental procedures, is the amazing technology that replaces traditional metal braces as the go-to source for achieving a straighter smile, and consists of a series of clear, removable aligners.

These aligners allow you to straighten your teeth without changing your daily habits, and without anyone noticing! It’s absolutely amazing to see what Invisalign can do for you, and Invisalign has so many benefits  over metal braces.

What is the difference between Invisalign invisible braces and traditional metal braces?

The most obvious difference between traditional metal orthodontic braces and Invisalign braces from an orthodontic professional lies in the aesthetics. Invisalign aligners are clear, allowing you to straighten your teeth undetected, whereas metal braces are much more noticeable.

Invisalign aligners are also removable, allowing you to partake in foods and activities that would normally be forbidden with metal braces because of the potential to break them.

How do braces work versus Invisalign invisible braces?

Traditional orthodontic braces consist of bonded brackets, arch wires, and elastic bands that move crowded or spaced teeth into their proper position for appearance and function.

This teeth shift occurs over a period of time, due to the gentle pressure that the metal braces provide. Brackets are bonded to the front surface of each tooth and wires are attached to the brackets with elastic bands. The slight tension on the wire is gently transferred to the bracket through the elastic band.

Invisalign braces from an Invisalign specialist work quite similarly, as the clear aligners are custom-formed to gently push the crowded or spaced teeth to their proper position over a significantly shorter period of time than metal braces.

The difference here really lies in the aesthetics of the Invisalign invisible braces, and the convenience they offer, with a shorter time frame until your teeth have been straightened, and less visits to the office during the treatment.
