How insurance works at Cosmetic Dental Associates

Every dental insurance plan is different. Cosmetic Dental Associates wants you to understand how dental insurance works and how to make it work effectively for you.

All dental insurance plans differ from employer to employer and what the insured person has signed up to receive. It is a little tricky to figure out what is going to be covered. That is why we can only offer an estimate on what the insurance will cover. We will do our best to determine what benefits you will have. Based on what we determine we will come up with what the insurance will cover and what the patient will pay as an out-of-pocket expense.

We only accept Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) insurance plans at this time. This means the insurance company allows you to go to any doctor of your choice and does not restrict you to a list of doctors. If you have a list of doctors that came with your insurance plan chances are you do not have a PPO and we would not accept this insurance. We are not a Network Provider so unless your insurance company agrees to pay to the same fees as we charge for our services you could have an out-of-pocket expense.

We file your insurance claims and we subtract what we estimate the insurance will cover. We then work out a payment arrangement for the difference. This can be done with one of our lenders if needed. If you have secondary insurance we will file this as well but we cannot include this in the estimate as it will usually only cover a portion of what the primary insurance does not pay. When we know what the primary insurance will pay we can determine what the secondary insurance will cover.

Our fees are average for the San Antonio area and are within 80% of what the San Antonio dentists charge.

Please keep in mind that anything considered cosmetic will not be covered by dental insurance and for these types of procedures payment in full is required.
