One of our most commonly performed procedures that we do here at Cosmetic Dental Associates is fitting people with Invisalign braces. These are a perfect option for adults who are looking to have braces, they are removable for easy cleaning and eating, and nobody will ever know you are wearing braces!

For those of you who have your teeth aligned the way you want but have some damage to your teeth, we recommend dental veneers. These are made of a tooth-like porcelain material that is fitted over teeth that are chipped, stained, or otherwise damaged teeth. You take of them just regular teeth, and people will be impressed by an impressive, bright white new smile when you flash your new and improved smile.

Whether you need a procedure like this done, or just a simple cleaning, rest assured that your procedure will be done the right way.

Sugar’s Not the only Enemy in the War Against Yellowing Teeth

Friday, January 27th, 2012

We’ve helped a lot of people get whiter teeth here at Cosmetic Dental Associates, and there’s one question they all want answered: how do teeth turn yellowish/brownish to begin with? Sure, there are certain foods, like candy, that we all know to avoid as much as possible. But there’s a lot more to teeth discoloration than just chocolate and gummy bears.

As we age, our teeth tend to darken. It isn’t a direct result of aging, but rather one of the normal wear-and-tear that occurs over one’s life. That’s why teenagers see an immediate and dramatic effect from teeth whitening, while those in their 20s, 30s and so on require more work before they see the results they’re hoping for. It’s still possible to get whiter teeth by paying a visit to our San Antonio Cosmetic Dentist office, but older patients have more stubborn stains that take more work to clean up.

Genetics also plays a role in the color of your teeth. All teeth have some level of translucency, but those that are naturally more dense have an advantage over thinner, clearer chompers. Front teeth in particular have less of the pigment that is needed for bleaching.

The starting color of your teeth plays into the equation as well. Everyone’s teeth have a natural color of either yellow-brown or greenish-gray. It’s true; beneath even the pearliest of whites is a much darker shade. Yellow-brown shades tend to be easier to whiten than green-gray ones, so more work will be required if you fall into the latter category.

The environmental factors working against many of us underscore the importance of avoiding sugary drinks, smoking and candy in order to keep your smile looking fantastic.

We Are the Place to Go for Dental Veneers in San Antonio

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

There are a number of reasons why the people of San Antonio come to Cosmetic Dental Associates to get dental veneers. Since dental veneers are made from a tooth-like porcelain material, they resemble real teeth, and are fitted over the teeth you already have. Dr. John Moore, our leading cosmetic dentistry expert, applies his expertise in this procedure for patients looking to fix a number of problems. In recent years, the popularity of dental veneer procedures has grown here at CDA, and nowadays Dr. Moore and the team here are using dental veneers to fix problems that they were not originally intended to fix.

When people need dental veneers, it is usually to correct and cover up purely cosmetic problems such as stained, chipped or cracked teeth. While the procedures still work very well to correct these problems, the capabilities of dental veneers have continuously expanded into other avenues as well. Dental veneers are now beginning to be used to replace problems that stretch beyond the purely cosmetic realm, such as fixing spaces between teeth and teeth with worn down enamel. It is ultimately up to you to decide exactly what kind of procedure you want us to use to fix your smile, but with dental veneers now taking a slice of the pie that normally belongs solely to orthodontic braces, you have more options than ever! Continuous innovation in the field of dentistry is what we strive for at CDA! Let us help you re-discover your smile!
